Kanchenjunga trek is also known as” The five treasure house of snow “. The third highest mountain in the world is  Kanchenjunga (8586m).In this trek, You will pass through wild, beautiful, and remote regions, as well as takes you to the place where you can listen the sound of birds, wherein you see the yaks and jokpas carrying the loads. Kanchenjunga trek region is inhabited by a mixed community of Sherpa, Rai, Limbu and Gurung which provides an opportunity for trekkers to understand their culture and lifestyle. The main highlights of this trek are Kanchenjunga conservation area which covers an area of 2035 square kilometers. This area has a rich diversity of wildlife including snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, red panda, and red-billed blue magpies.

In Kanchenjunga range, there are five peaks and the local people believe that each of the five peaks is a repository of different treasure; gold, silver, gems, grains and sacred texts. In this trek, we can observe mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and many others.

We began our 26 days in Kathmandu with visits to UNESCO World Heritage sites before heading to the most desirable Himalayan trek in the eastern region of Nepal “Kanchenjunga trekking”

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (13,45m) at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA)

Arrival in Kathmandu (13,45m) at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA). Pick up by our office representative, transfer you to your hotel, evening brief you about your trip, overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2Sightseen around Kathmandu valley world heritage UNESCO site

Today is for sightseeing tours to world heritage sites of Pashupatinath Temple-the holiest Hindu Temple on the bank of sacred Baghmati River, Bodhanath Stupa-the biggest Buddhist Stupa architecture in the world! Patan Durbar Square is the oldest city in the Kathmandu valley with age old tradition also called Lalitpur-the city of fine arts. The visit covers the Durbar Square, the Krishna temple, the Kumbheswore temple, the Golden temple and many more. . Swayambhunath Stupa-the 2000 years old legendary stupa on the hillock also nick-named as monkey temple.

Day 3Kathmandu to Biratnagar

The journey begins with an internal flight eastwards to Biratnagar.

Day 4Biratnagr to Taplejung

Day 5Taplejung to Mitlung (921m)

Day 6Mitung to Chirwa (1270m)

We start with the trail going downhill. The walk will take to the village of Sinwa. We continue our further downhill, where after the short descend we reach Tawa. From here the trail takes uphill turn and brings us across the suspension bridge. Upon crossing the bridge the trail passes though beautiful landscape. We then finally reach the village of Chirwa.

Day 7Chirwa to Sekathum(1660m)

We trek starts with walk through vast cultivation area with enchanting landscape and beautiful views around. The trail also passes through the forest area. We enjoy the beauty around and continue our walk ahead. Further, we walk down to the vast cultivation area and continue walking alongside the Tamor river. We pass Gunsa village on the way before finally reaching Sukathum.

Day 8Sekathum to Amjilosa(2500m)

We leave Sukathum and continue our trek. We cross the suspension bridge and follow the trail through the dense forest. We again come across the river and after crossing it walk for some time and then reach Solima. The trail further takes downhill turn towards the riverside and then finally reach Amjilosa.

Day 9Amjilosa to Ghyabala(2730m)

The trek today starts with the walk alongside the river bank. The trail then passes through the forest area. The walk ahead will take us to a bride and passing it we will have to climb uphill for some time. Further, we will enjoy the view of beautiful waterfall on the way. We again climb uphill for some time until finally reaching the village of Gyabla

Day 10Ghyabala to Ghunsa (3590m)

We leave Gyabla and head ahead by taking the downhill trail. The walk will take us to the riverside. From there further walking ahead, we will reach Phale in a short while. It is the Tibetan refugee settlement area. People here make handicrafts and sell it to the tourists passing by. We might as well buy some souvenirs. We then continue our trek by walking through the forest area and finally reach Ghunsa village.

Day 11Acclimatization Day

Today we will give the day for acclimatization purpose. It is necessary that we adjust our body to the changed altitude and environmental condition to prevent any possible altitude sickness. In order to aid to acclimatization process, some form of activity is required. So we will walk around the village area and also visit the famous monastery there. We will then get back to Ghunsa and take rest.

Day 12Ghunsa to Khambachen (4100m)

We leave Ghunsa early and start our trek by walking alongside the river bank. The walk is accompanied by the beautiful view of mountainous beauty. We will then walk through grassland and again through forest area. We will cross the bridge on the way and the walk continues ahead. We enjoy the great view of waterfall on the way. Further, the trail will take us though some rugged terrain. We can have nice view of beautiful peaks during the walk. Finally we reach Kambachen.

Day 13Khambachen to Lhonak (4785m).

We leave Kambechan and continue with our trek early. Today the trail gets tougher and more rugged. After the walk through the rough hilly area we will descend towards the riverside. We pass through waterfall on the way. The walk ahead will take us to Ramtang monastery. The walk ahead can be difficult as we will have to pass though landslide area. Then we will walk down towards the riverside and continue walking until we reach Lhonak

Day 14Lhonak to Pangpema (5343m), North KBC and back to Lhonak

From Lhonak we continue our trek ahead. Today we will be walking through Kanchenjunga glacier. The trail can get slippery and difficult to walk. We need to be extra careful when walking through this area as it is also the landslide area. After a short walk ahead we reach the flat land at Pangpema where there is Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. The surrounding area is quite beautiful to look at and the view of giant mountains like Kanchenjunga, Jannu and Chhang Himal at the backdrop looks splendid.

Day 15Lhonak to Return to Ghunsa (3590m)

From Lhonak we continue our trek ahead. Today we will be walking through Kanchenjunga glacier. The trail can get slippery and difficult to walk. We need to be extra careful when walking through this area as it is also the landslide area. After a short walk ahead we reach the flat land at Pangpema where there is Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. The surrounding area is quite beautiful to look at and the view of giant mountains like Kanchenjunga, Jannu and Chhang Himal at the backdrop looks splendid.

Day 16Ghunsa to to Sele Le (4290m)

From Ghunsa we will be climbing uphill through the dense forest area. The trail might get tough around this area. This region also has fewer facilities due to rising altitude. We continue walking until we finally reach Sele Le.

Day 17Sele la to Cheram (3880m)

Leaving Sele Le we continue our trek by taking the uphill trail. The great view of Mount Jannu and Mount Makalu can be enjoyed during the walk, The trail further can get rough and tough as will have to pass though few passes. After crossing the passes, we walk down to Cheram and spend our night there

Day 18Cheram to Ramche (4580m) and back to Cheram

We leave Cheram and walk uphill through Yalung glacier. From there the trail runs through the riverside. Further ahead, we will pass through Lapsang village before reaching the Ramche village. We walk further ahead to enjoy the outstanding view of Mount Kanchanjunga and Mount Jannu. We might as well visit the monastery there. We will spend some time exploring around and then return back to Cheram for our night’s stay.

Day 19Cheram to Tortong (2995m).

We leave Cheram and continue our trek further. After a while we reach the junction point where the trail separates. Leaving the trail to Sele Le, we catch the trail that will take us to Tortong. The trail ahead will pass through the river bank of Shimbula river. We pass through forest area and finally reach Tortong

Day 20Tortong to Yamphudin (2100m)

From Tortong we head ahead through the trekking route. The trail will pass through forest and landslide area and come across Lasiya Bhanjyang. From there we will take downhill walk that will take us to Yamphudin. The village has huge Mongolian population with Sherpa, Limbu and Rai tribe residing in majority. We will spend the night in a lodge at Yamphudin.

Day 21Yamphudin to khebang (1915m)

We start the trek by walking downhill through village area. We can see great view of farmland by the side of village area. We observe the village life and continue our walk. We will finally come to a stop at Thorpu

Day 22Khebang to Tharpu

Day 23Tharpu to Bhadrapur

Day 24Birathnagar to Kathmandu

Fly back to Kathmandu.

Day 25Final Depature

Final departure to your onward destination or additional trip
